Global Hubs
Our transnational, transdisciplinary team spans learning sciences, AI and computer engineering, bilingual and bicultural education, STEM education, learning analytics, educational technology, and international education policy. Each hub includes researchers, practitioners, community partners, and a Youth Design Fellow. Team members hold long relationships to their hub. For some it is their homeland, and for others it became home through migration, so the work stays attuned to local histories, languages, and aspirations.
Virginia, U.S.
The lead hub coordinates the collaborative from the University of Virginia, and works with district STEM leadership to ground guidelines in what teachers can actually use during instruction.
New Mexico, U.S.
Building on years of bilingual, community co-designed curricula joining mathematics, computing, and engineering, this hub works in an arts-integration public charter school setting.
Brazil
Led from Insper by a researcher who has spent years supporting Brazilian teachers in integrating science and technology into K–12 classrooms, this hub works through school networks in underserved municipalities to explore what culturally attuned, community-centered AI in education can look like, and what implementation feasibility means under real infrastructure constraints.
South Korea
Working with a nationwide network of educators, researchers, and policy leaders alongside a public science and arts high school, this hub asks what responsible AI means where digital tools are already part of everyday schooling, and how AI can recognize the diverse forms of participation learners bring rather than sort and rank them.
Uganda
A fifth hub is being established with Ugandan researchers and community partners, extending the collaborative into an East African context and building on existing co-design work between undergraduate and secondary students. Team and site details will be published as the partnership is formalized.
